I just passed my driving exam today 19/08/2026. I hold an Overseas license and converted it to QLD license. Rodney taught me all the maneuvres and how to drive in QLD properly. I had wanted to get my driver’s licence for a long time and had tried with another school before, but it was Rodney who truly made a difference.
He made me feel confident and like I was actually learning in every lesson.

I would like to strongly thank Sweet Ride Driving School for the effective way they instructed my wife to attain her driving license. It took the pressure off me when it came to the difficult parts and nerve wrecking situations. Rodney in particular went out of his way to assist me. I love his resilience and patience. My son had about six lessons after failing in Brisbane and passed today. He wasn’t familiar with the area and still managed to pass due to the outstanding quality of teaching by the instructor. The teaching was explicit and detailed. He was very patient and a very kind person. The instructor fitted us in even though he was very busy. We were so appreciative. This is an outstanding driving school. Thanks once again.

I’d like to recommend Rodney’s driving lessons to anyone looking for a great instructor in Cairns. Rodney is an excellent instructor with lots of experience. He explains clearly how to turn the steering wheel to park correctly — often within just one or two tries. During lessons, he never misses even the small details that are easy to overlook. After a while, he lets you drive without constant guidance to see what areas you need to improve or pay more attention to. As someone who doesn’t use English as my first language, I found his explanations very clear and easy to understand. Even now, when I drive, I can still hear his voice reminding me what to do (lol).
His car is also very clean, and since I’m small and have short legs, he even had an extra seat cushion ready to help with height — very thoughtful and well-prepared!
The booking system is super easy and clear. The website shows available dates and times, and payment is simple. After payment, you receive both an email and a text message, which is very convenient. Before the actual lesson day, you’ll get another reminder by email and text, and you can contact Rodney anytime if you need to. Everything feels well-organized and easy to manage.
On the lesson day, he arrives on time at the meeting point, and if you need to change the pickup or drop-off location, you can let him know in advance.
I highly recommend Rodney — even if you already know how to drive. For those who have driven in another country, the rules and expectations in Australia can be quite different. I’ve driven for many years in my home country, but after moving abroad and not driving for a long time, I recommend you to take 3–5 hours of lessons before taking the test. It really help to feel confident and avoid failing multiple times.

Rodney is an excellent driving instructor. I went from having overwhelming driving anxiety to being able to confidently pass my practical driving test on the first try. You can truly tell when a driving instructor is passionate about what they do, and Rodney provided lots of supplementary driving resources (e.g. mock marking sheets, manoeuvre requirements) which was super helpful, even demonstrating with Hot Wheels at times! Rodney's lessons were structured, and his encouraging attitude always allowed every lesson to be both productive and enjoyable. Overall very satisfied with Sweet Ride and would highly recommend this driving school!????

5 star ratings for a reason! I had Rodney and he was amazing! I’m a very anxious driver and I’ve tried two other driving schools before this. I can say with experience that Sweet Ride was the BEST out of all of them. They were very easy to contact and reschedule if needed. Rodney was also very understanding and flexible and was able to fit a lesson in for me before my driving test and I PASSED! It was a pleasant experience learning how to drive through this driving school and I will be recommending them to all my other friends and family.
